In an event attended by K-Pop legend and SM artist BoA, Lee Soo-man and Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud discussed a variety of topics, from organizing SM music events in Saudi Arabia to jointly creating media content with production companies in Saudi Arabia. The meeting, which took place at the SM office in Seongsu, Seoul, made headlines around the globe.

According to a post uploaded to the official SM Entertainment Instagram account, SM stated that future collaboration plans with Saudi Arabia also included “creating a space in the metaverse & real physical world for young individuals of the world to enjoy.”

“We expect to find a collaborative way to produce S-Pop and global Saudi stars utilizing SM Entertainment’s culture technology. We’d like to help construct a musical ecosystem for the younger generation in Saudi Arabia,” said Lee Soo-man.

The meeting follows a variety of collaborations between Saudi Arabia and K-Pop artists/labels, including a star-studded K-Pop concert that was meant to be held earlier this year. Unfortunately, however, the event had to be postponed and finally canceled due to heavy rain and wind which made it difficult for K-Pop artists Stray Kids and Chungha to perform.

The increased cooperation between the two countries demonstrates the ever-growing musical influence of K-Pop artists and the K-Pop industry design in global music.
