Planning to launch Disney+ on the 12th of November, Disney has announced seven new Korean Dramas that will premier on the platform. These include “Snowdrop” with BLACKPINK Jisoo and Jung Hae-in and “Rookies” starring K-Pop soloist and pop-culture icon Kang Daniel.
Other upcoming dramas include webtoon-inspired “Moving” and “Sixth Sense Kiss,” which star huge Hallyu actors like Jo In-su, Han Hyo-Joo, Yoo Kye-sang, and Seo Ji-Hye.
The platform also announced its plans to create a spin-off of the iconic Korean variety show “Running Man” titled “Outrun By Running Man” and starring Kim Jong-Koon, Haha, and Ji Seok-jin, all members of the original “Running Man” cast.
The platform has also mentioned the addition of four Japanese animation shows, an Indonesian drama, a Japanese medical drama, a Taiwanese comedy, and a Chinese-language period drama.
This increased amount of Asian-Pacific content on the platform signals a shift as Disney+ continues to challenge sites like NETFLIX, who have created some of the most successful Asian TV shows and dramas such as “Squid Game” and “Vincenzo.”
