CJ ENM starts construction on new K-Pop arena
Construction has officially started for the first arena built exclusively for K-pop performances. The building, named “CJ LiveCity Arena,” is sponsored by CJ ENM, a conglomerate known for their hold in K-TV/Film.
According to Variety, “the venue is designed for mega-scale concerts with 20,000 indoor seats, and capacity for a further 40,000 outdoors. It is scheduled to open in 2024.”
Announced last Thursday, after the construction of the upcoming arena, it will be possible to host over 190 events annually with the setup and deconstruction of concerts achievable in one day at the new venue.
With the guidance of the concert planning/operation experts at AEG, the arena will maximize the quality of the events, including, for example, a dedicated rehearsal space for artists.
The construction of this arena is just one of the multiple attempts by CJ ENM to increase its hold in the K-Pop industry. In addition to owning several recording labels and the music TV network “MNET,” the corporation is also leading the race to acquire major K-Pop entertainment company SM Entertainment.
