“DYNAMITE” is certified Triple-Platinum

In other BTS news, the group has obtained its first ‘Triple Platinum’ certification. The certification was earned by the group’s 2020 track, “Dynamite.”

The group’s first English track, “Dynamite,” also made BTS the first Korean musical act to surpass a billion streams on one song on the Spotify music platform.

So how does the certification process work?

The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America)classifies songs by balancing the album’s physical/digital sales, downloads, and streaming.

Music is then certified gold, platinum, multi-platinum, or diamond.

Each category represents a different number of units sold:

  • Gold = over 500,000 units
  • Platinum = over 1 million units
  • Multi-Platinum = over 2 million units
  • Diamond = over 10 million units

The members of BTS, not strangers to Platinum-certified tracks, have already received five certifications. As a result, BTS is the most certified Korean act in the industry.
