One of the biggest and most-watched about music events in all of Asia, the Mnet Asian Music Awards has finally announced their first 2022 event details.

According to Mnet, this year’s ceremony will take place over two days on the 29th and 30th of November, making one of the earliest events in the end-of-year awards season.

MAMA2022 will be held at the indoor sports arena Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan, which has the ability to seat around 40,000 fans and audience members.

Additionally, Mnet has announced that the event will rebrand from being titled “Mnet Asian Music Awards,” to simply the “MAMA AWARDS 2022.”

“We are rebranding ‘Mnet ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS’ to ‘MAMA AWARDS’ in line with changes in the global music market, such as the expansion of K-POP’s influence from Asia to the world. While establishing the ‘Mama Awards’, it will show shows and stages with iconic scenes. We will expand and evolve from MAMA, which has introduced K-pop to the world, and become the World’s NO.1 K-POP Awards to inform the world of the true value of K-POP in earnest.” CJENM (Quote Sourced from Naver News Newsen).

The upcoming event will be the first live and in-person MAMA Awards since 2019. The lineup of performing and nominated artists is still to be announced.
